a Porcupine and a dead Squirrel....
Was all we saw at the cabin this weekend. I remember the days that we would see tons of deer and moose. I guess we did hear some animals like a really loud Owl outside our bedroom window all night long and a rooster that started crowing at 6 am.
I was very glad that we saw the porcupine because for some reason Katie was asking about seeing one and really wanted to know all about where they lived and if they were nice. So on our way up there it was kind of dark and we told her we probably wouldn't see one, but amazingly enough there was one walking along the side of the road and we spotted it with our headlights.
Then on my way back up to the cabin after running an errand I saw this really cute squirrel on the side of the road. As soon as the car in front of me drove past that dumb little guy ran right out onto the road and under their back tire.
Oh well the cabin is great we love it and we are so glad that Greg's family has it. We only wish we could go more often and enjoy it.

Smelly dogs and good food
On Saturday we went to Soldier Hollow and watched the National Sheepdog competition and the Splash Dogs. We were really bummed because we wanted to enter Hunter in the splash dogs competition but he doesn't have all his current shots. We are going to start training him for next year though because it was so fun watching those dogs jump into the water and Hunter would LOVE it!!

This Dog jumped 24 feet- it was really cool to watch! But you want to sit higher in the stands because you definitely dont want to get splashed by this water!

Nei Nei recovery auction
I didn't know Stephanie Nielson personally but I have been touched by her story on several blogs that I read. Her and her husband were in a small private plain crash on Saturday Aug, 18- both survived but now have serious burns and a long long recovery ahead of them. They have 4 small children. The flight instructor died and is now considered a hero. This story as well as many others I read on blogs reminds me of how precious and fragile life is and how quickly it can change for better or worse.
So many amazingly talented bloggers are holding auctions to raise money for their recovery. If you want to check it out click here:

More sand, water, and fun with family!!!
As our final camping trip of the year we went to Yuba Lake with Greg's family. Ryan has a boat and we had a great time on the tube and wake boarding. We camped right on the beach which was kind of a stress for me with all the sand and NEVER getting out of it. The kids were covered in a layer of sand the entire weekend but they LOVED it! I just had to really learn to not be bothered by it and I had a great time! Its not the luxurious camping like bear lake with showers and grass and trees. But it is fun to wake up right next to the water and hear the crashing waves at night.

Our fun morning with Greg
Katie is starting to actually pose for pictures. Its amazing and she'll actually look at the camera.
Katie was telling me that she is 4- as if I could forget!
I love the gardens... I wish my yard could look like this!!
Then once we got into Draper we decided to drive over to see the new temple... its almost done and I can't believe I've never driven up there. It is a beautiful temple and I can't wait to see it at the open house!
