HaPPy HaLLoWEeN!!!

The "real" halloween finally has come and gone. Luckily I got Brielle to wear her Hannah Montana wig for pictures but then she decided she wanted to be Miley Cyrus and she refused to put it on again. If you asked Katie what she was its "Just Barbie" not any special kind of barbie "just Barbie" but she looked so dang cute!
Greg's pumpkin this year
AFter just going around the block once, the girls decided they wanted to go back to Addison's and pass out candy.
And play in the window of their scary halloween movie!
WATCH OUT BEHIND YOU!!!
Then we went over to our friends the Nielsen's for their Halloween party. I didnt get any pictures but his kids had done the best Haunted House in their backyard using the trampoline and swingset. Katie and Brielle went through it first with Greg and there were kids inside jumping out and scarying you and hanging bodies etc... it was pretty well done. Brielle wanted nothing to do with it again but Katie went 4 times and the 4th time it was by herself. I was SHOCKED!! She loved it! Way to go Katie. Then we played Rock Band Beetles... that game is so much fun, gotta get me one!

Trunk-or-Treat

Last night was our Ward Trunk-or-Treat. We dressed up as Princesses and our Prince Charming. It was kindof a crazy night since Greg and I are activity chairs and half of our committee ended up not being able to be there. But overall it was "fun" and we made it through it!!!

Brielle's Halloween Party

Today was Brielle's Halloween party at her preschool. Thanks to Jen for the fun day!!
I'm not sure what Brielle is doing in this picture, must have been jumping. What a cute group of kids!

Carving Pumpkins

We carved pumpkins last night with the Paris'. As usual the men had to do their very time consuming but very cool designs. And I did my first ever non traditional pumpkin (the skull head) I think it turned out pretty good! Katie really enjoyed the whole process, she pulled seeds out forever and didnt mind getting messy (Brielle wouldnt even stick her hand in the pumpkin.... surprising!) and Katie sat and carved and worked on her pumpkin until 11:00.... good thing we're off track!Brielle's pumpkin had lots of stab wounds and is very Halloween scary!

I'M SOOOOO THIRSTY!!!

This is what I hear EVERY time we get in the car to go anywhere. You would think I would get smart and make sure that the kids get a drink right before we leave but we are usually rushing out the door it seems.
Tonight we were coming home from the in-laws and Katie started the second we pulled out of the neighborhood. She's a little tired and a little sugar induced so she's overly dramatic and screaming and crying about dying of thirst.
Brielle, trying to calm the situation says to Katie "Katie, just swallow your spit" like this is the most novel best idea ever, and she said it so sweetly like she was really trying to help.

Thanks Brielle!

Halloween Dress Rehersal

The kids don't really need practice trick-or-treating. They get the concept pretty quick and run with it. Greg's parent's neighborhood does a party every year and opens the community up to all the residents grand-kids. Luckily tonight was pretty good weather although a little cold... not sure how the actual deal is going to be.

Halloween Party

Today I helped do the Halloween party for Katie's class. All the kids looked so cute and where so excited! Miss Warner has really been so GREAT and Katie is going to miss her the next few weeks while we are off track.

One of the mom's did a Witches Brew (root beer) and the kids LOVED it... they got to find and add all the ingredients and then watch it boil and smoke.... yummy!!!

We also decorated cookies and made Monster Slime! Funny thing is the boys were afraid to touch the slime but all the girls really liked it. So silly! Here is Katie and her little friend Victoria. She has made some really fun friends in her class.
And yes I even dressed up as Snow White!

Mountain Man

This summer my Dad moved up to his Mountain Home up Parley's Canyon. He is going to live their year round and will have to snowmobile in and out during the winter. He has pretty much made the place self sustaining. It has emergency water, power, food storage. Greg is so jealous, I think he would move there in a heart beat!

Dad got this ski lift from snowbird and made it into a porch swing. The girls loved it!
We went on a "walk" which turned into a pretty big hike but it is so beautiful up there and the kids made it the entire way (with only minimal whining!) I do love it up there but honey... I think we have to be city dwellers a little longer!

Scarecrow Festival

Greg had a day off on Friday so we took the kids and met my Mom and Grandma at the Scarecrow Festival. It was such a beautiful day!

My cousin Kenny's kids Kenelle and Steele came with Grandma.

The kids favorite part were the helicopters that landed and took off.
They got to sit in one and talk to the pilot.

Last weekend we were just working in the yard enjoying the good weather and the girls decided they wanted to ride bikes. We have been trying to talk Katie into taking the training wheels of her bike and learning to ride it but she's been to scared. She finally gave in and let us try it. We were out there forever and no such luck this time around... maybe in the spring!
Of course Brielle wanted to try also... truth be told I think she could have done it if we spent a little mroe time with her. I just can't let the little sister do it before Katie! Besides I think she would hurt herself because she doesnt pay attention and would run into everything, I don't need any more trips to the emergency room this year!
Greg was working all weekend at the Home and Garden show and so me the girls made treats for some neighbors... well the girls ate the treats anyway

We also picked all our grapes and made grape juice. YUMMY!!! I love eating things that we have grown, since my Garden froze and all my tomatoes got ruined... this is all I have!!!

HaPPy BiRThDaY to YOU!!

Its nice having Greg and my birthday's so close together. We are always gone for Greg's birthday every year because he always wants to go to the bug show. This year though Cherese helped me make his favorite cake (German Chocolate) from scratch... It turned out OK but would have been better if we didnt have to eat it at noon so we could get on the road to come home.
Happy Birthday! I hope you had a fun trip and nap in the car while I drove the entire 6 hours home...!! Love ya!!!!

Sunny Trip Part 2: Vegas

For the second part of our vacation we headed to Vegas to see Greg's brother Brent and go to the VW Bug show.
We haven't been to the strip in years because we always just stay with Brent but we thought it would be fun for the kids so we went to the Bellagio gardens and to Caesars Palace.

Saturday was the VW bug show... The last few years they moved it to this really nice outdoor mall so the boys get to look at bugs for hours and the girls get to go shopping and play at a really fun park. Fun for everyone.

So heres the delima. Greg has been wanting an orange bug forever, but lately both of us are really liking this really pretty brown that we saw at the show.... which do you think he should paint his bug???

Sunny Trip Part 1: St George

Anytime the weather report forcasts cold weather we can't wait to get out of town. So this weekend we went to St George and then on to Vegas (more about that later)
We always love to hike up and around the DIXIE. The girls loved the narrows and our entire family made it through.
Then we went to check on Greg's bug. "Big Mike" as he is affectionately called has been working on it for a few months and the pan is all together and so Greg really wanted to go for a ride.

The body is having a little more difficulty. When Greg bought it he thought it was an original ragtop, semifore but I guess both those had been cut in later and done poorly. Then it had been hit both on the front and back. So Mike has his work cut out for him to make it perfect! He says it will be done the end of Oct... we'll see! Poor Greg but at least its getting worked on... its been sitting in our garage for 5 years.
