Christmas 2010

The day after Christmas we went up to my Dad's cabin and enjoyed some sledding and playing the snow! Its a Winter Wonderland at the Hayzie's Cabin- thanks for having us Dad!

Christmas morning: The girls slept in until 7:45 and the first thing they ran for was their pillow pets! Santa was good to us all this year, THANKS SANTA! My Mom and Grandma came out for breakfast and to watch the girls open presents. We LOVE having them be here every year :) I really didnt get very many pictures this year, I was trying to enjoy the moments and not behind a camera!
Christmas night we went to the Jones' and of course its always fun and crazy!

Christmas Eve: We had a yummy dinner at the Holly and Tyler Jones' house. It was fun to be with cousins and family. We got home early enough to find jammies from buddy the elf and sprinkle reindeer dust on the front lawn so that the reindeer would know where to fly too.
Then Santa visited the house after the kids were finally in bed

Merry Christmas Greg

Well... its been a year and a half since Greg took his bug to be worked on. This last week it finally got painted! Here are some pictures... we are hoping it will be finished soon :)

Just a reminder of what the interior looks like, it was done back in October.... can't wait to see it all put together.

Not sure how we are going to pay for it??? Come to think of it I probably shouldnt have gotten Greg anything for Christmas... hmmm not to late to return everything :)

Buddy's farewell party

Buddy gets to return with Santa to the North Pole tomorrow so all of the toys must have thrown him a party last night because this is what we woke up to this morning.

Its almost here...

I can't believe Christmas eve is tomorrow!!! We have been trying to squeeze in the last minute fun activities for the Holidays :)
Monday night we went downtown to the Larry H.Miller sing along and then we walked around Temple square. It is one of my favorite Christmas traditions! We have been going to the sing along for a few years (before it became so well known) We used to be able to sit right down on the floor and be just feet away from Larry himself. This year we ended up clear up in the nose bleed section, but it was still fun! The lights at temple square were amazing as usual and the weather was GREAT, then it started to snow a little but it wasn't too bad, it just made everything even more beautiful.

Then on Tuesday Katie had a "sick day" from school and what better thing to do than go sledding? We had some fresh snow and we have a fun new park with some hills by our house. The girls had fun and I'm glad we got to go before the rain the last few days that has made everything super wet!

Katie's class Christmas party was yesterday. I don't know what I was thinking when I signed up to be room mom, plus community commissioner for PTA (more on that later) but everything seems to all happen at once. So luckily the party went well and I think the kids had fun :)

Part of my responsibilities as community commisioner in the Copper Canyon PTA is to be responsible for the charity drives that the school does. In November we did a food drive for the Utah Foodbank and we collected a lot of food (not sure on the total) Then the month of December we collected warm clothing for the "Share the Warmth" drive and then yesterday we took the donations to the Road Home. I actually really enjoy doing this and especially having my kids be able to be a part of it. We had some good converstions with the kids on the way there and I'm happy that they were able to see some of the people who may benefit from ours and others generosity.

Our truc was FULL of bags of coats, gloves, hats, scarves etc... The students, faculty and parents of Copper Canyon are very generous!

totally random

Why is it that lately my posts have randomly different text sizes? I don't change it and I don't know how to fix it??? Sorry if sometimes my font is HUGE and sometimes it is really small???

Anyone else having this problem?

Christmas fun

My friend Wendy had Santa visit her house this morning and invited any children to come and spend some quality time with him. All they had to do was bring a new or gently used toy to donate. Such a great idea and we had a lot of fun (Thanks Wendy!!!)
Even Greg and Jen got in on the action :) What did you two ask for?

Mele Kalikimaka

Greg and I had our last ward activity as Activity Chairs. We decided to do a Christmas Luau. Greg's parent's ward had done a luau this summer and had a group come and do the entertainment so we called them and they came. We did kalua pork and had lots of "fun" decorating. It was tons of work but it was really fun. It was definitely nice to have it done with and now I am going to be in primary starting in January teaching Brielle's class (wish me luck!).
some of the ward members learning a Hawaiian dance.
I guess since I was the only name that the guy new, he called on Greg and I to come up and do a dance for everyone (horray!). Greg and I spent 2 days making these palm trees for the backdrop. They were made from the cardboard carpet tubes, covered in paper lunch sacks for the trunk. Then we stuck an umbrella in the top and covered it with leaves cut from green bulletin board paper. I think they turned out pretty cool!
The performers were GREAT! The lead guy Roy had his son in law on the drums, then a few of his daughters and other girls do the dancing. They were really good, and had some fun costumes.
He also got the bishop and few other men up dancing with the girls. It was really entertaining to watch :)
even the kids enjoyed the entertainment! Instead of setting up tables we had everyone bring a towel or blanket to sit on. It worked well for space and so that everyone had a good view of the dancers.

I couldnt be happier that the party is over and now I can focus on Katie's school party this week and of course CHRISTMAS!!! I can't believe it is a week from today! Good thing we finished up some shopping today, I think we are ready?!?

Must be Santa

My super adorable talented cousin Emilie of photo by emilie had a photo event with Santa a few weeks ago. She took some very cute pictures of the girls sitting on Santa's lap. Although they knew it wasn't the "real" Santa, they were still very excited to tell him what they wanted for Christmas. Brielle would like a unicorn pillow pet and Katie wants an American girl doll.

christmas lights

Friday we decided to take a drive and look at lights around the valley. We visited a home in Murray that goes all out with their lights and coreographs it all to music. The kids LOVED it! Its called Christmas Utah .

Then we went to Pleasent grove tonight and saw a home that does the same thing but it was totally different and reall cool too. So amazing how much time these people spend on their christmas lights! so amazing! Its called Holdman Christmas

Both of them were worth the time, but I would suggest parking, and walking to both of them from a nearby church. The lines of cars are crazy, and you could wait a really really long time.
