Pioneer Weekend 2010

We had a fun weekend! We went to the Jones' cabin and went to the fireworks show in Charleston (near Park City) They put on a great show and we loved spending time with our family.

Friday night we went to a drive in with Tyler, Holly and the girls. We saw Toy Story 3 and the Sorcerer's Apprentice. I LOVE the drive-in, the girls watched the first movie with their cousins and then the kids went to sleep and we watched the 2nd movie.

The girls finished swim lessons on Thursday. Both of them did GREAT, Brielle even enjoyed the last 3 sessions with no tears or throwing fits. Katie moved to Level 2 and Brielle moved to advanced tots. I am so proud of Katie and how brave she has gotten, she is really a fish in the water and LOVES to swim!

Last Monday we went to the float preview for the 24th of July parade. This is the best way to see all the floats but not have to stand out in the heat for hours waiting for and watching the actual parade. The girls LOVED all the floats this year and it was a fun free family night activity.

I'm so thankful!

I'm so thankful no one was hurt!!! I'm so thankful my kids were at home!!!
I'm so thankful it wasn't my fault!!! I'm so thankful that I am not injured minus a few bumps and bruises and burns(from the airbag)!!

Crazy how fast something can happen that puts your life spinning LITERALLY! I was on my way to pick up Greg who had gone biking this morning and got a flat tire. Katie had a friend sleep over and they were awake but Brielle was still in bed, so I left the girls home (after a call to the friends mom and neighbor) so that I could just quickly pick up Greg.

I was at the intersection of 9000s and 4800W and was heading North through the intersection (Green light) I didnt see any card in the intersection when I entered but then all the sudden I felt the impact and my car is spinning. I was in shock I think I quickly got out of the car after pushing the door open and ran to the other car, the girl was OK but couldnt open her door either. She was bleeding a little I think from the airbag hitting her in the face. She was just saying over and over "I'M SO SORRY!!" I had no idea what had just happened!

The police report and witnesses confirmed that I was going through a green light and she was turning left in front of me and she pulled out. I didnt see her!! I keep going through it over and over in my head, I can't figure out why I didnt see her. Was I looking another direction? Was I sortof spacing, thinking of Greg?? You know how sometimes you just go into autopilot??

But hopefully things are pretty cut and dry, she admits fault and the claims have been filed, she recieved the citation by the police. Hopefully her insurance pays and there are are no unseen injuries that develop.

Thank you heavenly father for watching out for me and my kids! I hate to imagine what may have happened had they been in the car with me!!!

CH14th ward swim party 2010

Greg and I are still the Activities Chairs for our ward. We planned the 2nd annual summer party at Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center. We rented the outdoor pools after hours from 8-10pm. We couldnt have asked for better weather, it was still 87 degrees at 8pm. So even though it was a little cold when the sun went down it wasn't too bad.
I'm sure this activity will become a tradition because we get such a GREAT turnout but hopefully Greg and I will not be in charge next year and we can enjoy it more =)

Katie D. Jones the Toothless Wonder!

All we have to do is go camping if we want Katie to loose her teeth! Last year it was at Bear Lake. Both of her top front teeth have been loose for a while, but the left one was barely hanging on for at least a week. I was pretty sure it was going to fall out while we were gone so I was watching out for it. On Friday morning we went to the bathrooms to brush our teeth and after she was done I wiped her mouth off and she sortof looked at me with this horrified look on her face and when she opened her mouth it had finally come out! She was sortof unsure at first if she should be happy or sad but she got really excited on the way back to camp to show everyone.
We were back at came for about a half an hour and my mom and I were sitting by the lake talking to her about her tooth. My mom was asking her to see the other tooth and have her wiggle it. Katie reached in her mouth to wiggle her other front tooth to show us and she barely pushed on it and it popped right out! I was shocked! I thought the other tooth would take weaks of hanging on by a thread like the first. Katie just about broke into tears but after a while she really warmed up to the idea and I think once she realized it didnt hurt she was happy about it!
The tooth fairy only had to come once and she got 2 gold dollars, and books (Junie.B Jones, 1st grader at last and the Magic Treehouse book#1) and a note to answer some questions that Katie had.
We had just barely finished reading the Junie B. Jones toothless wonder book and in this book Junie B. is afraid the of the toothfairy but finds out in the end that she "recycles" teeth and gives them to babies. So Katie asked the toothfairy in her note if this were true and she said that she does reuse the really clean ones! =) Katie was so excited, because she had said Katies were very sparkly and clean!

Palisades 2010

This year our Hayes Family reunion was moved to next weekend in Zions, but Greg and I didnt want to break tradition so we went to Palisades anyways. We invited my Mom, Grandma and Kenelle to come along. We had so much fun, I LOVE Palisades-
fun combination of camping and water! This time our campsite was right on the water so we didnt even have to get packed up and go to the beach, it was just right there!

We had a lot of fun on the late with my Dad's kayak. Since you cant have big boats on the lake, all that allowed is paddleboats or electric motors, so its fun to play in.
We also had some rafts that we floated on, the kids said Greg and I were the "motor boats"
There were tons of little fish swimming just off shore that the girls had fun catching and keeping in buckets.
The next 2 pictures didnt turn out very good because they were at night and I NEED a new camera but I thought they were cute. We LOVE camping and we are so excited it summer! We can't wait for next weekend, and the next weekend.... its probably fair to say we might be addicted to camping!

Hewey, Dewey, and Lewey

Greg's parents have a creek that runs near their house. The other day Brent and Cherese had told the girls about some baby ducks they had seen while running. So we went to look and we did find baby ducks but the funniest thing was these 3 odd ducks that were following us down the entire trail. I thought it was so funny how there was a white, brown, and black one that were "friends" and that they were so not afraid to come right up to us. I had never seen a black duck before, his feet were even black... pretty cool!

swim lessons

We started swim lessons last week and so far Katie is doing GREAT. She has really taken to the water lately. Brielle on the other hand is not loving swim lessons. She has freaked out both times so far. She told her teacher that she would have fun next week... so we'll see =)

Way to go Katie!

The last week our conversations with Katie have pretty much gone like this:
Us: Katie, are you ready to try riding your bike again?
Katie: NO
Us: why not?
Katie: I'm too scared
Us: scared of what?
Katie: of falling!
Us: when are you going to try again?
Katie: next year!

So we weren't going to give up so easy. Friday night (after all the horrible winds finally died down) Brielle immediately wanted to ride her bike so Greg started trying to get Katie to give it another try. He told her he would not let her fall, but she was still worried. Greg had to promise her he would eat raw eggs, dog food, hair, toothpaste, and dog poop if he let her fall and she FINALLY agreed!

Greg ran behind her bike all the way down the road barely holding on to her and when she finally realized she was pretty much doing it without him she decided it wasn't too bad. She then wanted to ride back to the house by herself! She finally gained the confidence she needed and she took off. She wanted to keep riding until it was getting so dark outside we had to come in.

Then today(Sunday) we took the bike to Greg's parents and she was like an old pro riding around in circles, starting on her own... YAY!! I can't even tell you how happy I am. I'm so excited for her!! The summer will be so fun, I can't wait to go on a bike ride as a family!

Happy 3rd of July!

This year the 4th happened to be on a Sunday and one of the great things about living in Utah is that all the big firework shows were done on Saturday, the day before. We haven't been in town for the 4th for a few years and it was fun to be with family and friends. We went to the show in Sandy and they always have a really good show. The girls had so much fun dancing and playing on the grass.
It got kindof cold when the sun went down so my little snuggle-bug got all bundled in the blanket
Breanna's birthday is on the 4th- HapPy BiRThDaY!!

Breanna's 8

Breanna's birthday is on the 4th so this year they had a fun swim party at Karma and DJ's.
Karma is such a GREAT Nana. She is always getting in the pool and swimming with the kids and of course they all want to be hanging on her. She's such a great sport! She also helped teach Katie to swim, and she has been doing so good going under the water and swimming to Karma or I. I'm excited for her swim lessons to start on Tuesday. I think she's is for sure going to do really good this year, she has come such a long long way **Just another reason to be sad that my baby is growing up!!!

Last day of school

Today was the last day of school and we all survived (without a single tear!) I thought for sure Katie would cry but she didnt =)
We will miss Miss Warner but we are so excited for summer! No more waking Katie up every morning and now we can all stay up a little later instead of making Katie go to sleep while we are still outside riding bikes with Brielle.
For the last day of school the class had a Teddy Bear Picnic. Brielle and I went and joined them and played some games outside and then ate our lunch. Katie's class-mates are so cute, she is going to miss them over the summer.
Here is all the girls in the class (minus Kirsten) They are a cute group!
Victoria and Katie were really good friends this year
